Shaliwen.net

A personal note from the website:

Sullivan Rehabilitation Center is a NGO who gives deaf or hearing impaired children the opportunity of rehabilitation, while teaching healthy pupils of the age between 3 and 6 years in Beijing, China.

Founded in 2006 the Sullivan Rehabilitation Center was already present on the Internet under the domain shaliwen.org – but only in Chinese. Now in 2011, the center decided to go International – at least on the World Wide Web :)

I, Kristjan, and my German friend and co-worker Conny, were in charge of the Project; and I must say: we worked hard and did our best, to build the International web page of the Sullivan Rehabilitation Center – shaliwen.net!

At the moment you can switch between an English and German version, but our wish is to add more languages in the future.

We have build the site from scratch; designed the layout, wrote the code, translated the text, edited the photos… and sat by the computer for hours every day to create what you are able to see now!

So we hope, that all this time and energy we put into it, was worth it, and that you enjoy the site, find the information you are looking for, learn something new and hopefully decide to, in some way, help the Children, as we did – because it’s all about the Children and making a better World for them to live in.

In the end, I would like to thank AIESEC for giving me this great opportunity to do an Internship at the Sullivan Rehabilitation Center; of course also my co-worker Conny, who did a great job; the extremely nice “Office lady”, who didn’t speak much English, but still managed to communicate with us all the time (god bless Google translator), reminded us for lunch, cook us coffee and tea :), the old cooking lady – who was not always friendly looking, but still very nice (and a great cook!), for all the delicious food! Gary, our always smiling boss :) and everybody else at the Center!last but not least: my family and friends and girlfriend back home for all the support by my decision to go to China!

With best wishes to everyone who is Reading this News! :)

Now go and Spread the Word to everybody you know of this site!

With best regards,

Kristjan
